Cape Cod Destination Wedding at Wychmere Beach Club

Cape Cod destination wedding at Wychmere Beach Club

Summer on Cape Cod has a unique kind of magic—a feeling that defined Callie and David’s destination wedding weekend. The Cape has long been a meaningful place for Callie, whose parents own a second home there. Nostalgia for slow, sun-soaked summers by the water inspired her to plan a celebration that effortlessly blended classic Cape Cod style with subtle touches of the couple’s Southern roots. From the welcome party at Chatham Bars Inn to the wedding at Wychmere Beach Club, it was a weekend I truly loved capturing.

Callie and David’s love story is one of serendipity, shaped by life’s twists and turns. They met as students at the University of South Carolina, where they became friends and often partnered on group projects. After graduation, their futures led them to different cities, yet they kept crossing paths when they least expected it. Eventually, one moment led to another, and David asked Callie on their first date. The rest, as they say, is history.

A Busy Wedding Morning in the Bride’s Childhood Home

Callie’s cherished memories of summers on the Cape made it especially meaningful for her to get ready at her parents’ home—the backdrop of so many of those moments. With a twelve-person wedding party and a full hair-and-makeup team, though, creating a calm and seamless morning inside the charming Cape Cod-style house required thoughtful planning.

To make the most of the space and time, I spent an afternoon at the house with Callie and her parents ahead of the wedding, mapping out how each room would be used. This allowed us to comfortably accommodate everyone while still capturing the heartfelt, light-filled images Callie envisioned.

By the wedding day, we had both a Plan A and a rain plan for every part of the morning—from PJ photos with the wedding party to Callie’s reveal with her dad. That level of preparation gave Callie, who is very detail-oriented, the freedom to relax and be fully present.

Callie and David share deep, close-knit relationships with their family and friends, which meant a longer-than-usual list of group portraits. One of the day’s biggest challenges was balancing Callie’s enthusiasm for photos with David’s preference to spend less time in front of the camera. Thanks to careful pre-planning and steady communication throughout the day, we kept everything moving smoothly and made space for both priorities.

When the ceremony concluded, Callie and David could settle into the joy of celebrating with their favorite people!

Classic Wedding at Wychmere Beach Club

As a nod to their Southern roots, a second line parade led guests from cocktail hour into the reception in Wychmere Beach Club’s Harbor Room. From the start, warmth and energy flooded the room—it was clear just how deeply loved Callie and David are.

The couple’s choreographed first dance drew excited cheers from their guests. It flowed seamlessly into dinner, where everyone gathered around tables adorned with timeless white florals, softly flickering candles, and touches of dusty blue.

Most of the toasts were thoughtfully reserved for the rehearsal dinner, allowing the reception to move quickly into the celebration after a warm welcome from Callie’s father. It was such a great choice—the energy stayed high, and the dance floor filled effortlessly. I loved switching to film during this part of the evening, capturing the candid, joy-filled moments as everyone truly let loose.

One of my favorite moments came just before the dance floor opened, when the newlyweds and I slipped away for a few quiet minutes of golden-hour portraits. It gave Callie and David a chance to slow down, reconnect, and take it all in—and the light couldn’t have been more perfect.

Moments like these are a constant reminder of how meaningful this work is to me. It’s an incredible honor to preserve these memories and create something lasting for my couples. I’m so grateful Callie and David trusted me with their story, and I would love to do the same for you.
