Being a New England wedding photographer, I’ve attended my fair share of celebrations. But KC and Jay’s wedding weekend at the Woodstock Inn & Resort stands out for the thoughtful intention they poured into every aspect.
For KC and Jay, Woodstock was more than just a beautiful destination—it was deeply woven into their story. KC grew up vacationing in the area, where her parents now reside. When she met Jay, it became a place for the two of them to reconnect away from Boston’s hustle and bustle. Just far enough from the city to feel like a true escape, Woodstock also welcomed Jay’s family, who traveled in from Oklahoma for the celebration.
The quaint yet unforgettably scenic town set the stage for a wedding weekend that fostered genuine connection and quiet, romantic moments, even with a larger guest count. From the rehearsal dinner set against the idyllic landscape of Cloudland Farm to the wedding day itself, it was truly an honor to capture it all.

A Thoughtfully Planned Wedding Weekend
The weekend began with a pre-wedding session for KC and Jay at Kelly Way Gardens—an invitation to slow down, breathe, and ease into being in front of the camera before the celebrations were fully underway. We also used this time to refine poses we had discussed during our pre-planning calls, tailoring everything to feel natural and effortless for them.
The rehearsal dinner at Cloudland Farm followed, welcoming guests with a relaxed yet refined evening set in Vermont’s scenic landscape. That atmosphere transitioned seamlessly into the wedding day, which unfolded between a church ceremony and an open-air cocktail hour and tented reception at the Woodstock Inn & Resort.
With full weekend coverage, KC and Jay not only had peace of mind knowing every big and in-between moment was preserved, but they were also able to fully relax. I was able to be a quiet, non-invasive presence, allowing for more natural and emotive imagery.

Balancing Elevated Imagery and Genuine Moments
Alongside their planner, Sophia of Willow Hill Design Co., KC and her mom were highly intentional about creating a thoughtful photo timeline. They envisioned polished, editorial imagery while still leaving space for candid, emotional moments—something I specialize in. Over several calls, we refined the timeline and mapped out how each part of the day would unfold.
One of KC’s top priorities was preserving her “reveal” with Jay for the ceremony. However, she also wanted to maximize pre-ceremony portraits so they could enjoy cocktail hour with their guests.
We chose to photograph all individual groupings ahead of time, including separate sides of the family and the wedding party. After the ceremony, we focused on full family portraits, wedding party images, and time for the couple to soak it all in (with a cocktail in hand).
Looking back, I can’t help but smile when I think of KC’s first look with her wedding party or those just-married moments immediately following the ceremony. These quieter, in-between moments often feel just as meaningful as the kiss at the altar, and sometimes make for even more powerful images. Together, they create a gallery that feels both elevated and emotionally true.

Wedding at the Woodstock Inn & Resort
“Romantic” was one of the guiding words KC and Jay brought into their planning, and it came to life beautifully in their reception tent. Lush greenery climbed the tent poles, interwoven with blooms in blush, ivory, and peach. Delicate gold chandeliers hung overhead, while botanical-patterned linens added texture to the tablescapes. The entrance felt especially magical. It was reminiscent of a secret garden, with twin floral pillars and a trellis escort display that bore a flower “card” for every guest.
The evening unfolded effortlessly, from heartfelt toasts to a high-energy dance floor, balanced by intimate moments around the firepit. One of the most meaningful surprises came later in the night, when KC treated Jay to burgers from Johnnie’s Charcoal Broiler, a thoughtful nod to his Oklahoma roots. Throughout it all, the focus remained on time spent with the people who had traveled from near and far to celebrate.
