Wianno Club Tented Wedding on Cape Cod

Cape Cod wedding at the Wianno Club

Alex and Ben’s Wianno Club wedding was a heartfelt celebration of family and legacy. Held at the very place where Alex’s parents said “I do” more than 30 years earlier, the day carried deep meaning, from portraits outside the club to the oceanfront ceremony. Designed by Katydyd Events with a vision of effortless coastal elegance, the wedding was also featured on Glamour & Grace. I had the incredible honor of capturing it!

Casual, Candid Wedding Portraits at the Wianno Club

This wedding day was all about balance. Alex and Ben originally envisioned a small, relaxed celebration. But when their guest list grew to 200—and they couldn’t imagine leaving anyone out—they embraced a larger tented wedding at the Wianno Club, where there was room for everyone.

Even so, they wanted the day to feel true to who they are, starting with their pre-ceremony portraits. With an aversion to stiff, formal posing and anything that felt overly staged, they wanted images that felt natural, like snapshots from an iPhone on a casual date. Ben, especially, didn’t want to feel like he was on camera all day.

Spending an evening together for their engagement session helped me better understand their vision. On the wedding day, we kept things simple yet meaningful. We began at the club’s front entrance, capturing a few portraits that echoed Alex’s parents’ wedding photos. From there, the two took a quiet stroll through the hydrangea garden and down to the water, allowing me to document their genuine, unscripted interactions.

Coastal Wedding Details Inspired by Cape Cod

Cape Cod isn’t just where Alex’s parents were married—it’s also a place Alex and Ben truly love. That connection became the foundation of their wedding design, influencing everything from their custom stationery to the reception tent. The paper details, designed by Alex’s friend, featured nautical motifs like whales, seashells, and lighthouses. Wicker textures and a blue-and-white palette carried the theme throughout the day. One standout detail was the reception entrance, where a rattan escort card display was surrounded by baskets overflowing with creamy hydrangeas.

Although Alex and Ben chose not to have a traditional wedding party, they still found a meaningful way to honor their loved ones. The women in their families wore white floral dresses, while the men wore blue suits—a thoughtful nod to the relationships that have shaped their lives and a beautiful way to elevate their family portraits.

I’m so grateful I had the opportunity to photograph Alex and Ben’s wedding at the Wianno Club! Since then, I’ve also had the honor of photographing Ben’s cousin’s wedding, and I can’t say enough about how kind and thoughtful their entire family is.
