This coastal inspired elopement shoot in Gloucester, MA was recently featured on not one, but TWO Boston wedding publications (YAY!). So I thought it was about time to share this goodness on my own blog 😉
As a wedding photographer, I create beautiful images of my couple’s wedding day vision. From the florals, right down to the types of silverware used with place settings. There’s a myriad of details that go into executing these wedding day visions — anyone of you that has planned a wedding, knows this to be true!
It’s normal for my couples to ask my opinion on elements they might be debating, but overall, I’m pretty far removed from the planning and design process. A few times a year though, I get to be a part of the planning fun — alongside some of the best wedding vendors in the Boston area! This coastal elopement in Gloucester, MA was one of this year’s collaborations!
The vision for this shoot was to create inspiration for a beach-side intimate elopement, where a couple could see themselves surrounded by only their closest family and friends.
The sunken beach and the rocky coast enclosure of Half Moon Beach in Gloucester, MA made the perfect backdrop to create the secluded, yet dramatic feel. We also knew that the stone steps built right into the rock-side would make a perfect alternative backdrop to inspire to think beyond just the beachfront.
When it came to styling the details, we wanted to create a twist to the classic New England navy and white. We very intentionally decided on a tropical print that incorporated that quintessential New England color palette, playing off of the large floral use we also knew we’d also want to incorporate. The oversized bouquet and dramatic florals above the tablescape were designed to create movement and give a nod to the neighboring ocean view. The tablescape included the modern use of plexiglass for the table number, mixed with rustic coastal elements like the farm table and shell place cards. The carefully selected bubble-like glass charger plates and curved flatware each also contributed to the coastal elements incorporated into the tablescape. Stylistic choices made in everything from the stationery suite to the dress design all played into the simplistic coastal theme.
Vintage door frames created a simple, rustic coastal scene for our ceremony. Similarly, the use of the vintage chair tied the old into this modern take on a beachfront wedding. And with a theme so much built on love and romance, the inclusion of vow books was important because the couple would most definitely write their own vows and be excited to share their love for each other in such an intimate environment.
